Dianne Verano – JD, JD (American), BA, BSc

Dianne enjoys speaking with clients about their needs with regards to matters involving disability benefits, estates, trusts, guardianship, substitute decision-making, and their disability-related tax matters and financial planning.

She will work with each family to identify what alternatives and options they have regarding the short-term, and long-term, goals for their family or loved ones because each client’s circumstance is different. Many of her clients return for advice at different points in their life because circumstances may change as their loved ones with conditions, impairments, or restrictions, grow older.

Dianne is originally from Calgary, Alberta. She previously sat on the board of a legal clinic in downtown Ottawa. During her free time, you can find her in the office singing, or outside the office playing basketball.

Peter Zachar – JD, PhD

Peter is motivated by giving his clients peace of mind that their families will be cared for.  His focus is on estate planning; including strategies for structuring and minimizing taxation of inheritances, and drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney, and living trusts.  Peter also helps clients become guardians of their incapable adult children or family members with special needs to ensure that they have the proper legal authority to manage the incapable person’s property and personal care.

Peter studied law at the University of Ottawa, and his articles were in general civil litigation with a focus on estate matters.  While at the University of Ottawa, Peter was involved with several research projects using data science and machine learning to investigate what makes legal documents complex.  Before becoming a lawyer, Peter Zachar completed his PhD in Biology and worked as a research associate at the National Research Council.

When he’s not in the office, Peter plays the drums, records a podcast about disasters, flies racing drones, and spends time with his young family.
